Hawane Vegetable Farm
What's at Hawane?

Hawane Farm provides 15 hectares of relatively flat land allowing us to build an infrastructure to accommodate disadvantaged children. It also provides us land to begin subsistance farming and this is what we have been attempting to do since 2004.

Subsistence farming is part of the backbone of society in Swaziland. It provides essential life skills for the children, and a potential income generating future. The farm is not yet profitable but the concept of growing our own vegetables is very rewarding. All the vegetable waste is given to the rabbits and in turn the rabbit manure is used in compost for the very tasty vegetables.

Sabelo Dlamini has worked hard to bring the farm into top form and has done exceptionally well. The winters are hard on us and limit the variety which we can grow, but summer and spring are great months for harvesting.
